I was all set to go to First Baptist again this morning. Then I felt like God was saying "Don't go." Not like the sky was going to fall if I went or anything. Just that there might be a better way to spend an hour. Maybe last week was a one-off and I'll never go back again. I wish He'd mentioned something before I had ironed a shirt. I was going to tuck it in and everything. I hadn't made up my mind about whether to put on a tie yet...
So I tried to make some brownies for our Vineyard monthly pot luck instead. It's been a long time since I made my secret passion brownies, but it was kind of like riding a bike. I popped 'em in the oven and jumped in the shower. When I got out, I smelled burning brownies. I had my easy bake oven set to "toast" rather than "bake." Dammit.
There was a 2 by 4 inch section in the middle that wasn't charred, so I had that for breakfast. OK, it was more like 3 by 6. Either way, the flavor was there, but the texture was all wrong. I give up on brownies for today.

I am sorry that the brownies burned, but I am glad there was enough for your breakfast. I sometimes eat cake and brownies for breakfast. Something in me always feels like I should ask permission...from whom, I do not know, but I feel someone should tell me that is ok.
You should have worn the ironed shirt to VCF...it might be fun for an odd look or two.
don't give up on the brownies! never give up on the brownies. maybe you could send me some.
I recently went through a spell of turning the oven to 425 instead of 325 when making your secret passion brownies. It's kinda heart-breaking. It happened 2 or 3 times. Now there is a sign posted on my stove that says, "Brownies = 325". That makes me feel like an old lady. The old brownie lady.
