New Rule

No power sawing in the living room.

I've been working on putting this closet organization thingie in my bedroom closet so that I can, uh, organize my closet. It was supposed to take me two hours to do it all last Wednesday, but then it ended up taking me two hours to rip the old closet out. Then I was really busy Thursday, Friday and part of the day on Saturday. So for a couple of days, I just had all of my clothes (not just hangy clothes, because my foldy clothes had previously been on shelves and boxes in my closet--ALL my clothes) all over the place. The couch, the floor, one side of the bed, the other floor...So I finished it all up on Saturday except I needed a single shelf to go all the way across the top.

I went to Home Depot to get a shelf last night, but I didn't buy it because, well, that's just how I roll. I like to make two trips out of everything. At least two trips. Actually, my life is now just a series of trips to Home Depot with a couple of other things to do in between.

"Why didn't you just go to Lowe's today, Robbie?" you may ask. "There's a Lowe's 5 minutes from where you live and Home Depot is, like, 15 minutes away."

I KNOW. So I went to Lowe's today and they didn't have the right length of shelf. I needed 56.5 inches of shelf. Lowe's had 48" and then 91." Home Depot had 72" for $2 less than Lowe's's 91". So you can see how it made perfect sense for me to leave Lowe's and drive 20 minutes (passing home) and go all the way out to Home Depot in order to save $2. Also, I don't know how I would have gotten a 91" piece of melamine shelving into my car. I struggled enough with the 72" piece. Also, there's a Chipotle right by the Home Depot I go to (Chesterfield Town Center).

So I got to use my power saw for the first time ever. I've had it for a couple of years. It came with a set including a drill and a flashlight that all use the same batteries. I don't know how I lived life before I owned a drill. Today I'm really glad I had that saw. And I'm glad that I have a shop vac.

I really liked using the saw, so if you have anything you need sawed, I'll be more than glad to come out and cut some stuff up for you.

There are so many things I could say, but I am going with this: The very first line made me laugh out loud. It kept me laughing all the way through. You really are a writer Robbie..really.
