I don't even know quite what to make of this story.
I can't imagine what I would do in such a situation. The whole thing is somewhat distressing, but I'm really glad that they picked a church of true Christ lovers to assault in this way.
It would be a totally different thing if this had happened in one of the "radical right" churches that actually speak the hate-speech that ends up being attributed to the body of Christ at large. On a sick, weak, human level, it would seem that a kind of justice had been done.
But here is God's justice: The "punishment" that the activists wish to execute does not go to the ones who would seem to deserve it. It goes to the ones who can withstand it and who will not retaliate but will instead offer up prayers for their attackers.
Amazing.

Just wow is right.
People are stupid. Those christians who say things like "God hates fags" are stupid, and people who disrupt church services to protest to the wrong people are stupid. People are just plain old stupid. Its a wonder that God entrusted to run our own lives, what with how stupid we are. Real christians who actually think about what they believe are supposed to be the most open-minded and pro-choice people in the world. All that 'judge not' and 'everyone sins' stuff. Oh well
How sadly broken they are. Jesus, please heal the broken hearted among us.
I think that though what happened is truly awful, the reaction is a beautiful picture of what the Bride is to look like. May God truly bless the love and forgiveness in their hearts.
well at least they all have a new and interesting anecdote to tell at dinner parties
This story was made in China.
(How do you know this is a group of "true Christ lovers"? )
"Mount Hope, for the record, is an evangelical, Bible believing church whose members provide free 24-hour counseling, prayer lines, catastrophic care for families dealing with medical emergencies, support groups for men, women and children dealing with a wide variety of life's troubles, crisis intervention, marriage ministries, regular, organized volunteer work in and around the city, missions in dozens of countries across the globe, a construction ministry that has built over 100 churches, schools, orphanages and other projects all over the world and an in-depth prison ministry that reaches out, touches and helps the men and women the rest of society fears the most. They also teach respect for all human life and the Biblical sanctity of marriage as an institution between one man and one woman," De Leeuw wrote.
"The church's response? After things settled down, the blasphemy ended, the lewd props removed and the families safe from fear of additional men and women running into and past them the pastor took the stage and led the congregation in one more prayer ... not for retribution, or divine justice or a celestial comeuppance (that's what I'd have prayed for) but instead that the troubled individuals who'd just defiled the Lord's house, so full of anger and hate, would know Jesus' love in their lives and God's peace that exceeds human understanding," De Leeuw wrote.
This is not the testimony of a political or legalistic church. The only other kind of church I know of that grows is a church that is truly centered on the person of Christ, growing in relationship with him. As one matures in relationship to Christ, the primary fruit of that relationship is a deep love for him and for one's fellow man in general.
Ok, ok. Good Answer.
But just remember, you can't believe everything you read. I'm sure whoever wrote that article was a tithing member of that Christ-Loving church.
Like Chuck D said: Media- can't truss it.
